I am asking this question for my son and myself. I was attending
a biology class, my first, and one of the topics were biological
functions begin with chemistry. One subject covered basic and acidic
conditions. I have been in the habit of reviewing my notes with my
son, trying to generate some interest from him. This was one subject
that caught his attention. He is doing his project on this process.
This is what we have developed so far.

3 or 4 nails, of stainless, zinc coated, galvinized, and plain iron

containers of acidic solution (lemon juice), basic solution
(clorox),and neutral (H20)

(secondary question) Will results be significantly affected if we
place more than 1 type of nail in a container?

We have found it most difficult to locate material that explains the
process' at a 6th grade level or laymens terms without going into
ionic distribution and buffers (which dad doesn't know about enough to
explain). Could you please help us.

Fred R. Guerrero (dad)
and Rafael L. Guerrero (student)

Thanks
