Of course, the first person to actually discover color blindness may be lost to history; however, the first major study of color blindness was published in 1794 by John Dalton. In fact, color blindess is also called "Daltonism". John Dalton is probably more famous for his key work on the atomic theory of matter - one of the most basic theories of modern chemistry, and for Dalton's Law of Partial Pressures. If you study chemistry, you will learn much about Dalton's early and key work. More information on John Dalton can be found at http://www.astro.vi rginia.edu/~eww6n/bios/Dalton.html , or you can do a web search on John Dalton (or look him up in any encyclopedia, or even in the index of almost any chemistry book). In case you wondered....yes, John Dalton was color blind.
