However, I have never been convinced that the direction of the toilet flush has anything to do with the rotation of the earth because the water ports on the toilet direct the water in a certain direction. Hurricanes, however, are big enough and otherwise undirected that the coriolis "force" does decide what direction they rotate. If the "hurricane" gets started right on the equator it is unclear which direction it would rotate. Possibly as soon as it went north or south of the equator it would begin to rotate in the direction of that hemisphere.
