Maria,You should be able to create a rainbow indoors by following these steps:
First, you'll need these materials:
- 2 pieces of 8 1/2"x 11" white paper (like typing paper)
- Scissors
- Water
- Clear glass or jar
- Tape
You'll need a table in front of a window so that sunlight can shine through the glass of water.
Now, cut a slit approximately 1/2 inch wide and 8 inches long in the middle of one of your pieces of paper.
Tape that piece of paper to the side of the glass or jar, and make sure the slit is vertical (long-way up, like in the picture below)
Now fill the glass or jar with water, and place it on a table in front of the window, so that the paper-side is facing the window.
Place the other piece of paper flat on the table on the other side of the glass.
On the next sunny day, as the sun shines through the glass of water, the light rays refract, or bend, and produce a rainbow. For best results, make the room as dark as possible.
Good luck! Just add food coloring to the water to experiment with different colors.
