I am currently conducting an experiment that calls for a nail to be put in a soil and water mixture and a nail in just plain water that has been sterilized. The nail in the soil mixture should rust more quickly than the nail in the water. For the water, i used plain tap water, but the nail seemed to disenigrate very quickly. I am wondering if distilled water would prevent that because it has no chemicals in it such as chlorine.
Re: Must I need distilled water for my rusting of nails experiment?
