in an experiment to find the amount of ascorbic acid in a vitamin 
C tablet. The iodine is titred with sodium thiosulfate and once 
combined is titred into a solution of the tablet and water. So 
why is the iodine mixed with the sodium thiosulfate and not used 
by itself
