Subject: how do you turn a recipe into a chemical conmpund formula

when mixing heated chocolate tidbits and adding corn syrup you 
create modelling chocolate.  Is this a physical or chemical 
reaction?  What is the fromula as I want to teach chemistry tied 
in with a literature lesson to my middle school students.  
recipe is 10 oz. of melted tidbit + 1/3 cup corn syrup.  Mix 
until it hardens, let sit one hour and then mold...Fun 
activity.  Thank you very much
