Subject: Why does putting a magnet on a tv cause the color to go to the middle?

Hello.  My name is Pamela and I'm from Sultana High School.  I was 
wondering why when you put a magnet on a tv screen, it sucks all the color 
into the middle of the screen and messes up your tv forever.  My mother 
told me that her little brother did that, but i've never actually seen it 
done because I didn't want to mess up the tv.  So can you tell me what 
causes this?  Thanks!
