The possibly disappointing answer to this question is nothing. There is no reaction between the jar and the bromine or between bromine and air. Bromine is a reddish brown liquid at room temperature, however it is very volatile so it evaporates readily. If it is stored in a clear sealed jar, you can see the liquid at the bottom and the top appears to be full of brown "smoke", which is actually bromine vapor. Bromine fumes are toxic and poisonous, so it is usually stored in a refrigerator to minimize them.

Special care must be taken when dealing with bromine. It can cause respiratory problems and topical skin burns. Check out the Material Safety Data Sheet on Bromine:
