I have looked in the encyclopedia, at the library (ours if very small), and
searched the web. I can not find an answer for this. Most of the information
I've found centers around their depleting numbers due to over fishing. I did
find one reference that told me how many eggs a female can lay in one year, but
it did not say whether she stays to protect the eggs, or leaves them to fend
for themselves.
