Alcohol can be absorbed from the stomach and its absorption occurs more
rapidly when the stomach is "empty." This is the primary reason to
consume food in conjunction with alcohol. There is no evidence that a
particular food, such as olive oil, will prevent alcohol absorption or a
hangover. The three main points to remember are to eat something in
conjunction with alcohol consumption, to drink only in moderation, and not
to drink and drive!
