This question is not a joke, although it could be taken as odd. I am trying to find information on the lifting strength of insect wings.Any strong insect would do, but I used wasps in my question because some of the predatory/parasitic ones are in the habit of taking big insects home to their babies, and I wanted to find an insect with strong wings. I also though that the wasps' wing arrangement would make them good for lifting things. I think that a bunch of wasps, all attached to strings, could lift about 100 pounds, and probably more. Although they may not be organized enough to coordinate this, I ask about the muscular strength of the wasps, and not their organization. Has any work been done on this? Please tell me if a team of properly harnessed wasps could lift 100 pounds, maybe more. Thank you.
