Sorry, identification of insects are very difficulst without pictures and very 
clear descriptions. You did not even tell us where you found your caterpillar.
Internet is a little bit international and while you possibly are located 
somewhere in the USA, you might as well be in Germany, India or Japan.
Please give us more details otherwise we can not answer this question.
