I looked for info on mill worms and found nothing. After thinking
about your age and question I came to the conclusion that you meant
mealworm. (Tenebrio molitor) This worm is a common worm found
in pet stores and used to feed pet lizards. They are not really a worm
but the immature grub of the grain beetle. They love to live in flour or
cereal grains. I have kept a colony going in bran flakes for a few
years. Because of being a grub, the meal worm has small front
legs that it uses to pull itself along. It is very slow and would move
differently according to the surface. It may have more difficulty moving
across a smooth suface like a desk but move better across fine sand
paper or dirt something with a texture. This sounds like a science
project question. I would try different sufaces like wax paper, regular
paper, plastic surface, sand paper, etc. a timer to time the movement
would be helpful. A Google search of "mealworm" sould get you lots
of info. I hope I have answered your question. Good luck!
                                         Elsa
