I teach first grade and this is our class project.  We need research at 
their level so they can form a hypothesis based on research as to what 
will make apples rot quicker. We are going to put an apple in a sealed 
baggie with vinegar, one with water one with cat litter, and one in broken 
eggs. The kids came up with this.  They will call it "Rotten to the Core".
We will make a chart and each day check apples until they are rotten to 
the core and then mark. We will make daily observations too.
