In doing a science experiment I noticed that a paper towel rapidly decomposes with gassy bubbles in bleach at 90C in less than a minute. The same kind of paper towel does not otherwise dissolve in hot water. The reaction was isolated to the bleach, and that only when it was greater than 90c. What kind of reaction is going on here? What are the gasses coming off, and what are the likely end products. Before the reaction PH starts at 10, and ends at 7.2.
